Slowly loosening the reigns, Apple allows a third-party messaging app into the CarPlay ecosystem.
Previously WhatsApp users could send message in CarPlay through Siri, but now you can now place the app icon on the home screen for easier access. For those unfamiliar to Facebook owned WhatsApp, its biggest selling point is privacy. You and the person you are communicating with can only view your messages utilizing end-to end-encryption. It is also available across many platforms like Android, Mac/PC desktop and even Windows Phone.
While it’s nice to see Apple opening up the CarPlay ecosystem, the biggest thing on our wish list of compatible apps is Google Maps, Waze and Google Assistant. Come on Apple; let the people have what they want.
