Waze Update Adds Search by Voice but Still No Android Auto Compatibility - Connected Car Life

While we’ve been teased with a supposed Q1 2017 release of Waze for Android Auto, they have decided to release Waze v1.8 in the meantime. This update isn’t terribly exciting but hopefully this means we are one step closer to the day we can use Waze with Android Auto. In this new update it features the following additions:

  • Search by voice update: Search for a street by speaking its name in the language of the country you’re in, even if your Waze is in another language.
  • Search by category: Find places by category, like nearby parking, restaurants, hotels, shopping, and more without having to type exact names.
  • Auto complete distance: See the distance to any location as you type it in the Search box, with new auto complete distance feature.
  • Minor bug fixes and improvements
