While there weren’t any earth-shattering CarPlay updates with the release of iOS 10, Apple has added some useful features as well as open the door for 3rd party messaging apps to integrate into CarPlay. Check out the quick breakdown below:
1. Parking
Can’t remember where you parked your car? Now your iPhone will automatically ask if you want to remember where you parked car when you disconnect from CarPlay or Bluetooth. Read more here.
2. Rearranging the Home Screen
Something of a no-brainer but you can now arrange your home screen icons however you like. Read more here.
3. Added Integration for CarPlay and 3rd Party Messaging Apps
At launch not a lot of apps are taking advantage, but Apple will now allow 3rd Party messaging apps to be used with CarPlay. This will include messaging as well as VOIP calling so apps like Skype and Facebook Messenger can be used within the CarPlay experience.
So there you have it, not a huge update for CarPlay users but with Apple slowly opening up the platform the future definitely looks bright.
