[Rumor Report] Android Auto v3.2 to Display Message Previews - Connected Car Life
Jameson Bennett

Google has been on a streak of small Android Auto feature releases and it looks like we’re in store for a few more. In Android Police’s weekly update notes they did a teardown of the Android Auto v3.2 and discovered two interesting updates.

1. More Layouts for Secondary Functions

Currently your on screen interactions were limited to a play/pause button, activating Google Assistant, a button to play a text message or make/receive of phone call etc. This feature could potentially be used to add more on screen functionality for future uses or apps.

2.  Message Previews

This will be an interesting if released, Android Auto could potentially display the first line of a text message on-screen. Keeping in the mind the need to reduce distracted driving, these message previews would only be displayed when the car is stopped.
